300 New Warmers and Fillers

Regular price $10.00

There can never be enough warmers, right? This book contains 300 new warmers and fillers from BusyTeacher's trusted ESL instructors that have helped their students become more involved in the classroom and get in the mood for learning English.

Admittedly, when we put together our first book of ice-breakers, warmers and fillers, we thought 300 short activities would be enough to keep our customers pleased for a while. While our customers were pleased, they wanted more! We may have underestimated just how great these activities are for helping students get ready for a lesson or to help them take mental break from the "hard" topics in English and remind them of the fun in language learning. That's why we've written 300 more warmers and fillers!

Hmmm... Interesting! What exactly is included?

  • 300 short activities, perfect for ice-breakers, warmers, fillers and cool downs
  • 38 activities to help with vocabulary
  • 3 activities to help with spelling
  • hundreds of short activities that require just a whiteboard or students' voices

Are all these warmers really necessary?

We've received a lot of questions about whether warmers and fillers are necessary, especially since we published our first volume of short activities. The best analogy we can provide is this: if you were teaching swimming, would you throw a student in at the deep end of the pool? Of course not! Learning English is incredibly complex, and no matter how advanced your learners are, every day can feel like the deep end if the brain isn't warmed up to working in English, especially since students are arriving from other classes or a workday that is happening in another language.

After we wrote our first book on warmers, something unexpected happenned.

Originally, we designed filler exercises as something that ESL teachers could use if they found they had extra time during a lesson plan. As it turns out, many teachers build fillers into their lessons, to give students a chance to absorb each part of the lesson. For example, one might teach a hard piece of grammar, then have a short game from our 300 New Warmers and Fillers. This five-minute "break" can actually help students learn more throughout an hour!
